After some sanding with 400Grit sandpaper
After sanding with 800Grit
After Sanding With sanding sponge, equivalent to 1000grit when worn out.
Halfway
Notice how the circled stubs are removed in the bottom piece after sanding. The shiny finish is gone, just too bad.
Smooth?

Well, I aqquired this kit quite some time ago but due to studies and all I couldn’t get it done. Cost me only 40 singapore dollars at one of those sales.Firstly, i think this design is great, ‘cept for the torso which seems abit blocky. Its got a slick look, kinda like a sports car. Its also in shiny red and the kit’s original finish is a super gloss. I’m still pondering what to do with it now i’ve put it togetherfor a test fit. Its more or less sanded down, just need to roughen up the finish so the paint will stick. Have a special abrasive sponge i use to sand curved areas. Its a really great tool! Will snap a picture of it when I’m using it again.
The original finish is so nice, too bad its gotta go
Inside the sholders are details i think i’ll geeble up.
Sly looking face it has

I’ve decided to make this one a cut-away model, showing some of the internals and also light the internals as well. I think its going to take a long LONG time. Anyway, here are some photos.
I started by drawing out what i want to cut away and what i wanted to leave behind. I still haven’t decided what to do with the parts that overlap the internals but its okay, the amount of work is going to keep me busy for some time because of the sanding and all.
First I drilled a couple of holes. Then I decided that it was too slow, so I whipped out my dremel and started to grind everything off leaving a very rough and dirty finish.
This is when it was almost done, the 2 main biggest holes are done for this wing binder. I smoothened it out with my needle files and sandpaper. Its hard to get it to a point where the cutaway sections really flow with the model and look even.
Another close-up of the holes i cut.
Eventually I will have to do the cutaway thing for the entire body, but only on one side. I’ll also try out the alclad II I bought a while back.

I took the plunge and dremeled somemore out of the wing binder, it looks better than I thought. I just have to straighten out the edges alot. They are all very very rough and difficult to sand. My metal-ruler sanding thingy is abit to big to fit into the areas but those that do allow it to fit end up realy nice and straight. I haven’t thought of how to geeble the insides yet, will look at the assembly manual for some detailed drawings.
Really rough finish for now.
The Internals are showing quite well through the gaps.

I’ve dremelled away even more of the parts and i’m almost done for the major hole cutting. I’m having quite alot of trouble sanding it straight, have to think of some better way because the needle files are causing trouble when I try to sand it smooth. Since the needle files are narrow, they tend to cut a line instead of sanding the surface smooth. Otherwise, I’m really enjoying this kit. I feel like its coming together. I’ve added some copper wire. Its solid, quite bendable but still holds its shape well. I got it from my mom’s flower arrangement stuff. Its at least 2mm in diameter, looks good in my opinion. Stilll no idea how to geeble up internals. Oh well, one step at a time
As usual, some photos:
I’ve cut the yellow thing inside so as to let it be more see thru. Also, the copper tube was test fitted and bent into place held by sticky-tack. (have you found nemo?)

After much more sanding and dusty dust flying around, this resulted. I doubled the copper wire and cut the skirt armor, the thigh and the reverse side of the wing.
Top view showing both sides.
