Running Man

I ran 2 x 3km today. Just felt like running more because I feel like I’m going to die of heart attack before 30. Also, I think it makes me eat less because I don’t want to undo my running by eating.

Before I go on, I think my aunty is going to be down with cancer. Its not set in stone yet, but its a good chance she will. I sent her to doctor today, going to do so again on friday. Hopefully results are not there and then. I’ll be like so helpless as to what to do. I hope that out of all of this she will feel the need for God as her mortality shows itself to her in more realistic ways. I don’t want her to die, but worse than that, I don’t want her to die a spiritual death. So if it costs her her life and us a loss of a great aunty who’s been taking care of us from small to big, its all worth it. I feel so detached and heartless. I wonder how I’d feel if I or someone in my direct family had cancer.

Moving on, my room is a little more packed up. I’m going to be done soon! Then I’ll take some photos. I want to change my curtain to blinds for practical reasons.. My room faces the neighbours and I have to draw the curtains which cuts off wind and the air outside.. so hot la! somemore now I’m running a desktop thats making my room slightly hotter than outside.. no choice.

I’ve also acquired a cool LBV (load bearing vest) from my cousin which was the prototype for the current LBV issued in the army for certain units. It was scrapped because it was more expensive. It looks like this without any pouches attached on the loops:

LBV

When pouches are attached and stuffed, it looks something like this:

Stuffed LBV

I don’t know what I got it for. hahaha.. but the pouches he gave me are going to be useful. I shall be super extra and use it for reservist one time and see how.

Anyway, this blog needs a little more pictures. I’m so sorry I bombed you with so many words in the past 10-15 posts. Here’s a picture of the recording last week.. 2 down with about 3 to go!

Eunice at the piano

Recording setup

Anyway, I haven’t processed quite a few of the songs yet.. After thursday I’ll start to do it! Just SO many takes and tracks. Nowonder you pay good money for sound engineer to do it. Its not a simple matter! Thankfully, the piano is not the main star and is just a background accompaniment cos its really not good enough (for me at least).

OUR CHURCH NEEDS A SOUND-PROOF-ULTRA-QUIET-SUPER-SILENT ROOM.

Was i thinking out loud? Also, I have always wanted to do a children’s CD to evangelise to visitor’s parents during june camp or any other thing. I don’t want to do it on my own, I want it to be sanctioned and supported by God and wait for his timing. I hope I don’t miss his signs.

New Purchase!

Okay, other than the Focusrite Saffire LE

Focusrite Saffire LE

I bought a pair of earphones today.. goodness, they just sound so great! A pair of these MylarOne X3 earphones are relatively cheaper than anything that produce the same sound quality and insulation. Its so quiet in these earphones that you can’t hear anyone talk once you put them on and have some music coming out of them. The great thing about such a high amount of insulation is that it allows you to listen to your music at very much lower levels than normal so you don’t spoil your hearing. Here are some pictures..

{MylarOne X3} The pretty disgusting looking box..{MylarOne X3} The contents, minus headphones.. it comes with the wire coiler thing, and uncle wilson threw in a double insulation rubber thing in addition to the 3 sizes they give.{MylarOne X3} The earphones have this clip at the bottom to clip to your clothes so when you take them off they can hang around.{MylarOne X3} Just a macro shot..

Breakfast at the Botanical Gardens

I had a good run at botanical gardens this morning. My bro, dency, me, pastor, aunty diana and char went for a early jog. We all (except my bro) took 1 round around the garden, then me and pastor went for another. There’s this red brick road which is like ultra xiong la! my calfs hurt cos the shoes keep making my feet roll outwards. Nearing the end, pastor was too fast for me and he disappeared into the distance. After everything we went to the visitors center to eat breakfast. I had a western set.

Happy breakfast! Of course, it din come with the smiley egg

Oh well.. after that went for 2 hours of choir. Sian la, sometimes I don’t know what we practise for anyway. Although we’re clearly not into it for sounding good anymore (something which I only dare to say recently), its still so quality driven to the point where I wonder where’s the point where its too low quality to be edifying? I believe we have long long long passed that point by God’s grace and we should spend our time doing other things. What other things you ask? Quantity, Less practise, More people driven less music driven? To hell with the music if nobody is edified, nobody is encouraged and nobody is blessed. The same if the quality takes over the reason of singing to edify the belivers. The music was made by God, for God and is one way he can bless his people. Whats the point if not these two? No point la! Anger does not produce the righteousness of God and in my anger and irritaion I must not sin. Sigh. More being less doing. I’m still not being all that is required of me. More being less doing.

Have i mentioned that I am starting to hate the sound of my voice? Its this contant annoyance that talks about me all the time. Shut up YH, just shut up.

Lamb Of God

The lamb of God came before us

a ransom for our sin

he gave his life

he rendered his blood

on the cross that we might live

.

how could he have loved us

when we’ve turned our hearts away

how could he redeem us

when we’ve sent him to the grave

oh lamb of god oh precious one our sin has nailed you to the tree

we have have laid the tomb before you

yet you come to make us free

.

The Lord still comes to redeem us

he comes to give us grace

his perfect love will live in our lives

if we seek him now in faith

.

how can he still love us when

we’ve turned our hearts away

how can he redeem us

when we’ve sent him to the grave

oh lamb of god oh precious one our sin has nailed you to the tree

we have have laid the tomb before you

yet you come to make us free

Thoughts and Discussions

Offertory

Recently I’ve begun to care less and less about how an arrangement sounds. Or how musical something is. I always wondered if its laziness and contemplated 2 Samuel 24:24 where david refused to take a piece of property for free saying “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God with that which costs me nothing.” but now I don’t care. As long as there are no distracting elements (which can mean both lousy playing or fantastic playing), its fine. Whats the point of a nice sounding offertory if nobody can follow the melody with the words in their head? Without the words how does it minister to them other than being nice sounding and calming? Of course, I acknowledge the power of music without words like how david soothed saul with his music. It was possible he did not sing but that is not known really. Anyway, point is as long as the people are pointed to God I don’t really care how I sound, or look, or what people say. I hope John 3:30 would be evident in my life as I serve him in this skill based public ministry.

If you’re reading this don’t ever tell me it was nice or what. I’m not used to saying “praise God” over here but I really think its all that needs to be said. Then if you really want to encourage me you must pray more cos I go through alot each week before I serve. Its like a whole torrent of trials for one simple offertory to come out.
