While listening to today’s FBI lesson, he touched on a verse which I never saw in this light before!
“…Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10
Obviously (or maybe not so obviously) I’m not trying to antagonize anyone. Being depressed and moody is a state we all fall into. Falling into it is human, living there is wrong. When was the last time you saw a moody, depressed christian ministering to people? Who wants to be a christian when every living specimen around seems to have had the life sucked out of them? So.. not to be a critic only, how do we have the Joy of the LORD? I honestly have no answers off the top of my head.

Thoughts and Discussions
Is Acts 16:31 a promise? (read Acts 16:25-34 in totality first) or was it a statement made as a logical conclusion? (ie. if you as the head of your house gets saved, your family will eventually see your testimony and get saved)
some online opinions: yes & no

Honestly he could have phrased his domain name/URL better, but essentially his attitude toward homosexuality is something like mine. That having such an “orientation” (if such a thing exists) does not require you to obey it. In other words, temptation != sin.
His opinion might change in future and I’m not responsible for that.. so if you see something funny through that link just leave a comment and I can take it down.

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:12-17
What did I do wrong? Where is my peace? Just very sad la. Total sian-ness

Have you ever felt like reading and listening were no good and you can’t get anything in your head although you really wanted to? I feel like that now. Anyway, I’ve been listening to Benny Ho’s Workshop on the beattitudes one at a time.. I promise I’ll upload it! Its a really good exposition (up to the 3rd one at least) with such real application. I think poverty of spirit, mourning over sin and meekness are all missing from my life. What do you do when you realise that? haha.. Sigh.
Does Romans 7:20 really mean what it means? of course, must read in context la.. Romans 7:13-25

So interesting, Romans 9:17-18 talks about a question I had last time about the Pharaoh and how he had no choice when God decided to harden him to show his power. Romans 9:19 basically says “Wha! but thats not fair! how can any man not do what God makes him do?” and then Romans 9:20-33 is the long reply that is summed up as “God can do whatever he wants because he is God” Sounds mean but honestly quite true. If I made a nice model and decided to squash it I would have every right to do so.

This has come up in alot of conversations recently so I’ll just say it here too.
Ever heard that statement that all things work for good? Well, that in itself isn’t true. What is mostly overlooked is the second half of Romans 8:28. “to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” 2 Conditions (as with almost all promises in the bible!)
- You must love him
- You must be called by him
Of course, God can choose to bless the unfaithful BUT as the first part of Romans 8:28 says, “we know” that everything surely, without fail, undoubtedly, unmistakably works out for good for those who fulfil the conditions.
Well, the first one requires another verse to expound. Namely John 14:15. Enough said.. mousing over should show you the ESV version of the verse which should be clear.
Second one is a little more vague. Called to what? dinner? no.. It explains in Romans 8:30. Without going into details (which sometimes gets in the way of the big picture) it basically means born again christians. This article is an interesting exposition (I havent read the entire site, it might be herasy for all I know..okay nvm, the guy who preached, john piper is an evangelical and is abit off but not way off.. read about him at his wiki)
“According to his purpose” just means he’s the boss and things might (and usualy) don’t go your way.
Aren’t all the promises so much more interesting when its more specific and you know what you can do (by grace) to qualify for it?

Not restful in the sense that I didn’t do anything, I swam after I woke up.. then came back home to change the light in my sisters room, then now i’m going to shower and then go sleep. I read Isaiah 55 today, because I’m doing scripture reading this sunday on Isaiah 58. I particularly noted Isaiah 55:7. A thought is just beyond my reach now.. can’t remember what it was but it was comforting.
I was just telling YX today how I can’t imagine us together because it just seems so much more buddy than romantic.
Anyway, off to shower I go!
