First Roll of Slides!

P9250705

Heh.. bought a roll of Kodak elitechrome 100. Slide film, meaning that instead of negatives in which the colors are reversed, you develop positives which are the right color and are used in old skool projectors (hence “Slide film”). This roll I’m going to cross process.. meaning the colors are going to be funny (in a nice way). No more develop and print! I’ll be broke.. Going to develop and scan. Cool!

Some photos of lunch and dinner too. Here are some highlights first

First Roll From the Rollei 35S

The success rate is quite low actually and total spent is $18.10 for film and developing + printing. Still, there are a few shots that are just fantastic. The scans I did are quite terrible, the print is so much nicer! I picked some to scan and upload.

16 12 13 4 5 6 7 1 3 2 10 9 15 8 11 14

Still not used to the viewfinder thats why some pictures are cut off. Strange.. I did get some sharp photos at the end cos of the rangefinder I started using. It really helps alot with the focusing cos it tells you the distance.

I like these:

Yep, so thats it for film. haha.. its quite an expensive thing to use all the time.. but I guess if i keep a roll inside and take photos less often, it’s probably worth it. I really like the dreamy effect it has sometimes. I think its the glass thats foggy. Haha.. I think there are some things film does that digital can never do. I like this!

Canon G10

This is one of those times when I wonder whether I shoud have waited just abit.

But any techie knows that you’ll never be done waiting.

Why I should have waited another 4 months includes

  • Dedicated exposure dial
  • Wider lens
  • Digic-4
  • Cheaper at $500usd

Why I don’t feel bad buying a G9 on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 at 9:05 pm includes

  • Getting it reasonably cheaper ($430usd)
  • having a great 3 months (one month with my bro) of G9 goodness
  • The progress isn’t much on the G10
    • 14.7mp??? enough with the useless pixels! down with the noise!
    • In line with the previous point, larger sensor please..
    • wideness is quite slight at 28mm
    • looking at it, I’m sure the viewfinder still cannot make it

So there.. haha.. until someone does a really good hands on test nobody really knows much about it yet. It looks cool though.. thats only cos it looks like the G9. hahahhaa…

Rollercoaster Day

Had a long long day starting at 6am until now. Met people, talked quite abit and now its time for rest. Thoughts about “The right response” has had me captivated for most of the day. Especially when its been called on for so many different situations great and small over the past weeks. “The right response” is simple to know yet so hard to do, especially when “the right response” is called on in a split second, bypassing the mind. “The right response” means many things in many contexts. “The right response” is called for, among other times,

  • When treated unfairly
  • When hearing news (good or bad or even when its none of your business)
  • When annoyed
  • When judging people

I think.. sometimes I need more thought as to what the right response is before I commit it to words.

Mainly, if love is lacking (1 Cor 13:1) my well-meaning words will mean nothing and my rants will become a destructive storm.

On an unrelated note, thank God for safety, not just my own. Haha.. we can only laugh in the face of danger past because of the God who has been merciful. We could have been missing a pastor on Sunday! haha.. O_o

Off to sleep.
