Some Quick Picks
Think this June camp was extremely fast. Other than all the admin and facilities being in order it was also a very comfortable camp physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. I didn’t do a lot of thinking to be honest, because none was really necessary. Everything was simple and straightforward, requiring choosing between obedience or rebellion, re-commitment and reminders of the cost we do not pay because we do not live as we should.
Other than that, I had a pretty good time even as my life changes just a little socially and also as my dad was absent somethings were also a little different. Managed to hang around the town area in port Dickson with family and yx on Tuesday, it was pretty nice.
Shall leave you with some photos. I’ve missed making them and relished the opportunities I had to just snap a few pictures here and there and also try to make some timelapse videos which I am not very happy with actually. Haha.. the stars were nice but my one hour exposure messed up.. no one will ever know why.

There’s a wonderful crabmeat linguine at Changi Village hotel. Some lurvelee pictures I managed to catch over there.

Processing
I spent a while seeing what I could do with a random photo on my hard drive. Its surprising how much just correcting color for skin will do for a photo. “auto adjust” just doesn’t cut it. The top is the original, the second adjusted for skin color and the rest are just well.. some exercising of the presets.
edit: now that I look at it again with fresh eyes, she’s kinda jaundiced. lol! I wonder how these people get it right all the time.

20 Hour Day
Today was so long that I thought stuff I did in the morning was yesterday! It went like this.. last night I felt like I needed more time to do stuff so after chatting with YX on the phone till about 1:30 I went to sleep and got up at 530! haha..
So what happens at 530 in my house? For one, it was REALLY HOT. I don’t know why but it was sweaty hot. So I got up, went down and found my mom already awake reading. I shower, and start on my FYP stuff. Tragically I realise my findings are nothing really very interesting today and I haven’t actually got alot done. So on it goes until about 630 when I decide I should take some photos of my place from the 17 storey HDB nearby. I walk there, take this picture and come back down.
So I come home, try and get some work done and finally get too tired at about 1130 so I nap till 1230 and find Hannah in the house when I get up and my parents returned from their anniversary breakfast. Drove to school and dropped my sister at vivocity for a lecture from 2-4 and then head back home. Head out for dinner with YX (oooo… olive rice at thai express I like..) then come back home.
Feels like too little for a 20 hour day! Anyway, I just did some work and tried to find out how people achieve those film effect on their photos.. I also have yet to discover how they do the super vibrant photos which are so soft and pastel like. I found a photoshop action and tested it out.. here are the results.. pretty nice and arty but not exactly film-like. Nice though. Here’s an emo shot.
What do you think? heh..
Off to bed for me! I’ll go hunt somemore actions and stuff down and eventually learn to do it myself. Goodnight one and all!

My G9 is Back
Well, I think I’ve just blamed the camera too much. Today I went out with my mom, dad and hannah and I shot a whole roll of 120 film in about 5-10 minutes. Shall post that up when that’s done. It was interesting to shoot medium format. Most of my shots were at 1/60s at f8. Don’t think there will be much nice round bokkeh but I do hope to catch sharp photos of my parents and hannah.
After I got done with the film and feeling weird composing photos in squares I used my G9 and got mostly rubbish. Until I went over to the dog swimming pool and set my camera to crop to 16:9 in-camera. Everything was very interesting from then on.. the way I composed photos, setting my camera to about -2ev consistently when in bright sunlight and -1ev when it got cloudy.. the photos came up surprisingly sharp, colorful and well.. nice. Didn’t notice the chromatic aberrations, fringing and other nonsense I usually notice.
So here are some of them I kinda like. Thought of doing something like a storyboard of movie stills but.. nah.. don’t have the time or energy.

Strobist Scene – Kissy Kissy…
Well, I’ve never been so proud of myself for thinking of something this amusing (at least to myself). I didn’t even really intend for it to be anything funny.. but as I looked at the toad, it seemed to be leaving forward.. like its expecting a kiss. Yes, I know the princess kissed a frog.. but hey, let it be..

Some more from my c5050
I think I’m hopelessly attached to this camera. No matter how much I neglect it, it still is able to produce decent photos that I like at a much higher rate than any other camera.. Just the favourite first..
and the rest
