I just thought of the past week as a good “summex” to everything we’ve ever learned in the christian life. I really didn’t do much heavy-lifting this camp. Napped twice a day, late morning and afternoons because it was intolerably tiring just to be there. Think its a super challenging time each evening because the salvation of young children just wasn’t foremost on my mind at first.
The next few days that followed was just following up with a single kid’s salvation for 3 mornings. All worth it. Hope his parents do bring him over!
Next week I believe there are about 3 unsaved in my group. Shall use every opportunity to present the gospel and challenge the rest of us lazy churchgoers to more than just existing as members. Also to push for greater congruency in the various facets of our lives by genuinely conforming to the mind of Christ. Wah. so cheem. haha.. but it just means that we have to be genuine and not live double lives.
I kinda hit a wall with the tons of photo backlog over the past few days. Just too many to look through and keep/delete. Shall look through slowly and stop taking photos over the next few days.
Just had a family gathering over mid-autumn festival and it was quite a crowded affair. Really loud and all. That was after I came from a whole day in church.. starting with FBI then a pretty long study/tuition session where I finished my assignment and gave Evan tuition at the same time. I hope that I’ll be able to bring this boy and his family to Christ one step at a time. Time is of the essence.. and the days of a person’s youth and innocence are so few and numbered. The end of innocence is usually the phenomenon of suddenly “growing up” and coming into your own. Forming your own identity. Hopefully that Identity can be one with Christ! Something undesirable when a person’s spiritual vision is clouded by all the wickedness experienced in the world.
Over the next week I hope to catch up with my FYP. I’ve completely neglected it. I don’t want to do poorly this round, I can’t take another failure. Anyway, here are some photos from the past few days. I really had quite a blast over my birthday. Quite intense, silly, quiet and enjoyable all at the same time.
I kinda can’t remember everything that’s happening in my life, its moving soooo fast its all a complete blur now. I also feel less inclined to word out my thoughts. Something I’ve grow to be terribly lazy at. I’d like to be able to look back at what’s happened and smile about it though. haha.. So I shall endevour to keep a more complete record. Wow, we can all almost write our own biographies man.. haha..
The day was a short one but it seems like it was packed with activity. Woke late, followed my mom out to get the neice, did some reading at the library, went to check out uncle buck’s eye microscope thing to try and make a mount for a camera, went to ikea and did some photoshopping, came home to do the rest! Now I’m going to bed and waking up abit earlier tomorrow so I end up sleep earlier tomorrow night.

I’ve just had the good idea of dividing my day’s tasks into 3. Morning, afternoon and evening. I stuck 3 “post-its” on my desktop and labelled them accordingly and put in tasks I intend to do during those hours. Well, it seems to be quite motivating and organized. I’ll do a physical one on my wall perhaps next time. Didn’t touch my FYP today, so dead. On the other hand I managed to take a picture or two with the camera and strobes. I kinda like it. I’m liking the idea of doing studio photography. Shall try with the Dog and perhaps hannah when I get my shoot thru umbrella and other accessories. Make a softbox when I’m free too (which doesn’t seem to be any time soon).
That’s all for now. Looking forward to another day tomorrow! Many ponderings about how relationships shift and change, about discipleship and how it almost never happens under that name in our culture.
Spent last night in church watching a show then playing games (actually I skipped this) then staying over for about 3 hours worth of sleep before I arrived at school. Nothing much to shout about. Going back was more interesting. I met up with the buyer of my Hi-matic F and then browsed around Pageone before heading over to Nikon service center to see if they can repair my Nikon 28Ti. Well, they couldn’t for lack of parts. So I guess I’ll have to tolerate the possessed Autofocus dial spinning around for no reason.
Haha.. happened to see a band using one of these ebow things. Apparently its some magnet thingy which vibrates the guitar strings and makes it have a bowed kind of sound. interesting.
Abit hungry now. Everytime I open the fridge 4 rolls of portra film sit there waiting for me to use.. I shall! soon..
This is one of those times when I wonder whether I shoud have waited just abit.
But any techie knows that you’ll never be done waiting.
Why I should have waited another 4 months includes
Dedicated exposure dial
Wider lens
Digic-4
Cheaper at $500usd
Why I don’t feel bad buying a G9 on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 at 9:05 pm includes
Getting it reasonably cheaper ($430usd)
having a great 3 months (one month with my bro) of G9 goodness
The progress isn’t much on the G10
14.7mp??? enough with the useless pixels! down with the noise!
In line with the previous point, larger sensor please..
wideness is quite slight at 28mm
looking at it, I’m sure the viewfinder still cannot make it
So there.. haha.. until someone does a really good hands on test nobody really knows much about it yet. It looks cool though.. thats only cos it looks like the G9. hahahhaa…
Haha.. all my stuff’s arrived! As a bonus, I’ve found a replacement for the ancient battery for the Rollei 35S at sim lim square! haha.. turns out its still being made but its alkali now.. with slowly decreasing voltage levels being the most troublesome part.
The Viewfinder
The Rangefinder
And the previous stuff like the lensmate and the Grip.
