Stuff

Prints

William made some prints for me, pretty nice! Matt paper and deep blacks are good. There’s still something off though, not sure what it is.

Tomorrow I’ll start my day early again! Very early.. Which brought me to my next thought.

Verse of the moment: Psalm 63:1

Camera Stuff

Beautiful Night

Just thought I’d show come pictures from the 5Dmk2. At first I felt it was pretty much the same as my 5D but it really has many little things I didn’t notice. For one, the thing that I most appreciate is that it feels exactly like my 5D but grippier. I don’t feel like I’m using a different camera or have to adapt. It just shoots straight pictures like its predecessor. A few things I noticed after a day or two of using.

  1. Video is nice! but hard to shoot stable stuff without IS lenses which are non-existent for full frame
  2. 10x live view focusing is a godsend for my Nikon 50mm f1.2! It can focus a million times easier than the viewfinder which is pretty hit and miss
  3. High ISO is pretty good

So here’s some stuff I shot over the last day or two. I’m liking it. Now to get more work…

Simple Devotion

Well, me and Samuel were just talking about this passage over some prata on tuesday and I just happened to chance on this youth pastor’s blog with a simple devotion on it about taking up the cross and counting the cost. I was just going to post it and stop there but I went to visit the church’s site just to check what they believe and found this:

We teach that the new-birth experience is comprised of repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ. (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:1-5; Acts 10:44-48;   Acts 19:5-6)

Well, some of these terms have to be defined more clearly like “new birth experience” and “Infilling of the holy spirit” and if the next statement is also a must

We believe that when a person receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Isaiah 28:11)

and if the logic is a –> b –> c, then saved –> filled with holy spirit –> speak in tongues. Which we then have a major problem cos well.. long story.

Oh well.. the devotion still has value though :)

Busy Packing

I’ve decided to dump my old table in favour of cheap Swedish furniture. Using some table legs around the house I bought a $50 tabletop and am using it now. Looking to swap beds with my grandma. Use the sofabed in my room so I can have a place to sit down other than at my table. Most of my stuff is out on the floor now, have to whittle it down so I can fit everything in the smaller storage space again.
