Well, its been a great time here in the states. Other than the usual galavanting around shopping and sight seeing, its also been good to spend time together as a family. I feel abit detached missing what’s going on at home, esp with yx  but thats okay, this doesn’t happen very often anyway.

I’ve enjoyed everything so far. Its just bordering on tiring but activities are quite slow and spaced out so its a good rest la.Went to the grand canyon today. It was stuffed with snow. Snow snow snow everywhere, so much so that playing with snow was almost as great as seeing the grand canyon. The wind was not blowing so I just wore a single shirt and pants and spent the whole day out in the snow and sun and it was warm. The canyon was so BIG. Of course, it IS the grand canyon la. So it really huge.. We took a train up and it was nice. Shall do a big post on the whole holiday for myself to look at when I get back..

I think I’d be able to stay here for a long long time if yx were here.. hahaha.. cos I just feel so far away. Was thinking this might just be what its like to miss someone. I don’t really know what thats like but I wonder how we managed 6 months away from each other. A week is terribly long already.

Just a quick look at what I remember quite clearly over the last few days.

disneyland, the Wicked musical, grand canyon, seaworld, church, smashed my G9.

Well, the G9 is a simple story.. the camera slipped off the gorillapod I bought onto the ground. My circular polarizer is like dented quite badly. Lensmate is fine (other than being swept onto the floor by cinderella a day before.. long story..) The lens assembly seems jarred out of place and the lens cannot extend or retract. I dismantled the whole thing and I can’t seem to set it right just yet, can’t understand the mechanism. Oh well.. there are SO MANY SCREWS, so sian to put it back together again after taking it apart. Tragically, the camera I got for uncle David is like.. not really working. Its cosmetically perfect but not working. hahaha.. I’ll have to split it open to repair.. I suddenly have no mood to do it now with my camera like that so it’ll have to wait a little while later. Can’t stop thinking about my camera. haha.. but being sian is just a waste of time.. so I’ll get it FIXED.. if not I’ll just buy a new lens assembly for a hundred USD and put it back together. at least I’ll save the hundred over labour charge.. Oh yeah, one more disgusting thing about opening it is I suffered many hundred volt shocks from the very very large capacitor in the camera.. Its like.. rated at 330V! ouch.. haha..

I’d like to put up some photos but its so painfully slow its not worth it.. net in the dorm is also erratic and slow and only in my bro’s room so.. wait till I get back. Shall weed out stupid photos first then upload. My minolta has been seeing tons of action.. here’s a shot of it in the snow. hahaha.. I used 3 rolls already I think.. probably not going to do any more.

Oh well.. I’m going to be sleeping soon. talking to yx now! haha.. managed to use gtalk to video call. so awesome. Goodnight/morning one and all!

update: smashed camera(again). Enjoying myself. At grand canyon.going back to hotel soon. No photos cos no net.it’s pretty cold here with tons of snow. Going back to Arizona to
Slack for a day or two before flying home

Reaching out.. Haven’t posted photos in a long while man. I’ve been taking them though. The olympus c5050 fisheye returns!

I sold the Yashica at a good price.. heh. One less camera.. good good.

I suddenly realise why the 40mm lens on my Minolta Hi-Matic E is so wide.. full frame really makes abit of a difference.

Check it out, real life pretend-christians! lol.. okay, maybe not that bad. Its just troubling to see Christians take each other to court over something like VPP. I mean.. what can the court possibly decide that we can’t? and can the court as a secular body possibly understand the bible at all?

That was the quick conclusion we all will arrive to but as an exercise, think about what other options there are for both parties other than going to court.

For the college:

• Give up the college premises without a fight in order to siam the court
• Stop teaching VPP so they can continue to use the premises

On the other hand for the church they can..

• Continue to let them use the premises and plead with them about their doctrine
• Vacate the entire premises and give it to the college and buy another plot

Question is whether the above options are feasible.

• Financially able to move out?
• Will the govt allow me to get a plot even if I have the money?
• Responsibility to college students?
• Responsibility to church members?
• Man’s heart is proud and cannot bear to “lose”

On the last point.. I believe winners bow out graciously when the stakes are this high.. I mean.. great.. now the whole Singapore knows of your idiocity.. so what if you are able to teach/eradicate VPP? You have given all readers one more excuse not to accept God’s grace. That is really all that matters in eternity. +1 to satan man..

Both sides have had their exit options but choose to go to court.. “who started it” is not important. Like two kids fighting, both have to fight to really have a fight. Who really cares who started it? Reacting is just as bad as acting.

I hope it all clears up.. sigh.. I feel like its a glimpse into my future playing out before my eyes. If I ever am in such a position, I will need to tap into God’s mega grace.. and will be able to bow out and just “lose” in faith knowing God will take care of everything, even if it means that my church as an organization and building is completely dissolved and the ministries I have worked in for years disappear before my very eyes.. I know I am doing right by not fighting it out in court.. and he will have something bigger and better or more possibly.. smaller and lesser for me to do. If that is my only option to not go to court, it is indeed God’s will (1 Corinthians 6) and it will be silly to think that holding a church together will achieve more than following his instruction.

This one no man can fix loh..

I feel like binning my phone. The cover I bought is ten time worse than the original.. which was already very bad. I can’t switch back because I broke the clear screen cover of the original one while taking it out cos it was taped down with super strong double sided tape. Sigh. This is abit stupid and I can’t do much about it. I want to send it in but it’ll probably take ages to come back.

After having my whole afternoon burnt for nothing, I’ll continue where I left off in the afternoon and plan for my US trip. Yahoo travel is really a gem of a service. If you need to go to the states or some other country you should check it out.

Anyway it was really nice today. I picked up some expired slide film for my trip to the states and the guy I bought it from was clearing out his stuff so he just threw in another 6 rolls of negatives in addition to the 4 rolls of slide film. So now I have a modest film stash. I feel slightly embarrassed at my 14 rolls in my drawer now. More than enough for a whole year.

I’m going to rest. Been tired recently.
