Thoughts and Discussions

Thats a nice looking car (according to my very quaint taste for cars), too bad it doesn’t exist. Anyway, This will be relevant later.
It was a very long Sunday, been up from 730 until now (10pm). After service I stayed for Sunday school, then was going to head to Daniel’s place but heard KW and Irene were headed there as well so I waited for them and went together. After long talks about all kinds of married-people-with-kids topics and watching the two couples, KW and Irene left and I went out with Daniel to do some stuff and eventually drove his car back, thats the 18th different vehicle I’ve driven in my life I think. In no particular order:
- Honda Jazz (mom),
- Honda Fit (Andre),
- Mazda 3 (KW),
- Honda Colt (Gary),
- Some 6 seater(Gary’s dad),
- Mercedes (Daniel),
- Toyota Corolla (Mom),
- Toyota Corona (David&CC),
- Toyota Starlet (David&CC),
- another 6(?) seater (Ming Yong&Wei Fang),
- Toyota Hiace (Church),
- Citroen Dispatch (Church),
- Some Van (Uncle)
- Toyota Altis (Ade’s Dad),
- Hyundai Getz (Bro),
- Some car (Jason in the US of A),
- Nissan Sunny (YX),
- Mazda RX8 (David Ong)
And no, I really haven’t driven my dad’s car yet and did not leave it out on purpose or what. Hmm.. thats really quite a few. haha.. Some I would really like to try include the volkswagen beetle (old old one), any muscle-car and perhaps a Hummer.
Still, just like the iPod touch I thankfully did not have the opportunity to purchase at a relatively cheap but totally unjustified amount of money however small ($200 only leh!), I learned that alot of things just.. pass away and are not important. I still however, told Daniel I believe God does actually pay attention to all the frills in life.. and if he would indulge me with a “funky old car” I would have one. If not.. I guess I’ll be condemned to an anonymous looking 2nd hand Nissan or something. Still, I could be asking for too much cos if have an accident, lose both legs/hands I’ll never be able to drive a car anyway so who really cares about what one drives anyway? but thats beside the point. I guess, I’ve been thinking (relatively) far ahead in recent days. Mostly about starting out life on my own. Learning abit more about different things by talking to people.
So many people have different ways of seeing the same thing its really quite disturbing to realise most of its not even important enough to be spelt out in the bible. Still, out of the tons of things discussed today, I think the thing I really thought most about all of it is that I won’t think about any of it (too much) and try to live my life a step at a time. Oh.. and try and drive at least a hundred different vehicles just for the kick of it. Just 82 left!

looking back
I don’t really know why I like this. I think its because the saturation and contrast are maxed out on the camera and there’s this nice red line on the van beside. Taken while waiting for Bernice.

Went an evening out with my sister, mom and hannah to sushi tei at east coast old big splash there. Its pretty nicely redone! Ate abit of stuff.. realise I haven’t exercised today but thats fine.. Feeling abit fatigued everyday.
Anyway, as the title says, hannah is indeed growing. Pulled a photo of my sister’s flickr and photoshopped it. Think its quite a funny expression and gesture that was caught.

Today certainly isn’t one of them. Spent almost the whole day in the burning heat not able to rest or relax. Its so hot that the aircon efficiency i think is very low.. the nights with it on are still hot but at least its not humid. Tomorrow I shall try to take it easy. Not fetching my grandma I think.. so I’ll try and either
- Get up early and take some photos at the park
- Sleep late until my body becomes one with the bed
YX is in the grand canyon with my bro and dency! haven’t heard from them yet.

Looks like a giant scar on the earth. Anyway, I shall now shower. Exercised everyday this week.. I’m paying for my slackness and complacency. My average has risen to 89kg! Goodness.. I still maintain that the coffee table in my room is to blame. No space to exercise. har har har.. Not my fault. I also think my body is used to the weights after increasing it already. Soon I have no more weights to add! lol.. unweighted situps suddenly feel.. so easy. Hai.. looks like 85 is a long way to go. Time to fight it with a slightly less slack diet.. now I’m eating so much.

Have you zipped up three and a half million files before? I’m about to find out if thats possible. My laptop’s been zipping it for a day already, still not done. Wonder if I should have just re-downloaded the maps (3days) all over again.

Misc Stuff
Watched the second episode of Everest: Beyond the limit season 1 and noticed the sherpa carrying a nalgene the same as mine! haha..

Think its the 1 litre version. I think this series is really interesting. Its just 350mb of the 25gb I downloaded. hahaha.. Still got quite alot in the pipeline. The most awesome is BBC’s planet earth in HD quality. Too bad, no big TV to watch.

Stuff
My Olympus c5050 will be retired soon after roughly 8 years of service. Bought somewhere in 2000 I believe. It was a shared family camera until about a year or 2 ago when my brother got his own camera. After that there was a time I brought it everywhere I went. Took a couple of thousand photos with it in that short time. Its still in good repair even after the lens assembly has been replaced 3 times (not our fault each time) but I don’t want to use until it spoils so I’ll be replacing it and keeping it as a backup.
With what you ask? I considered for quite a long time (since a couple of months back) between this

this

and this

The GX100 and GRd2 are really really great stuff, they cost about 800-900 each. They are slim and fit into pockets, about have a resolution of about 10mp each. The GRd has a fixed lens though (no zoom) which hopefully would result in better optics and being more tough since less moving parts. The GX 100 doesn’t come with that monstrously ugly viewfinder (optional part) but I’ve heard great things about its quality and stuff. All 3 models are black (notice any pattern? ha..) and generally not so appealing to anyone other than me.. haha. I love the look of all 3.
I settled on the Canon G9. Why? firstly, its cheaper ($600 cos I’m getting from the US. Its $800 here) and can do just as much as the ricohs other than fit into my pocket. Its got a hotshoe for my brother’s flash (550ex), does RAW and is.. well.. a canon. I’m quite sad it has no 4×6 ratio, but it can do 16×9. I’ll just have to crop everything manually if I want any ratio other than a boring 4×3. No swivel LCD too. I guess my sneakyshots have to be less from the hip now.
So there. Its coming back with YX if its in stock so I’ve got like double happiness. hahaha.. If not it’ll just take a while more for me to get it.
