I was looking forward to good steak the WHOLE afternoon until I got there! Then.. it was pretty gross. I mean, I’m quite happy that finally some restaurant managed to cook a steak more rare than I wanted.. but this was ridiculous! It was RARE. Not really bloody, but so rare it was purple in some areas! oh man.. then Mine was supposed to be medium and YX’s was medium rare.. but mine was like.. rare and her’s was medium! I think they cooked me frozen steak. Why else would the thing be so rare in the middle?

Blah.. I wasted some good money and worse, plenty of calories I could have consumed somewhere else. I could have eaten the parklane won ton mee just beside! I’m so sad. Anyway, I finally met Christina’s BF Hardi. It was quite funny cos he’s a jaded teacher as well. Without saying more.. here are some pictures from the day.

Well, I must say this year’s offerings are better than the last 2 years but by not much, only in the price range cos teh technology is kinda at a plateau. Here’s a short review I did for Shirley in case anyone wants to buy one. Choosing criteria is weight and cost.

All the below laptops have 3 year warranty and are below 2.1kg which are probably your key concerns unless otherwise stated. After that, its how much you want to pay for the look and brand name.

Acer TM6292 - $1950 wGST

Not too bad leh.. below 2.1KG, the specs are decent. It doesn’t look too bad. Comes with microsoft office. The price above is upgraded to 2gb ram and increase  from 1 to 3 year warranty. (Must ask hor, without these 2 things the lappy won’t last that long). Acer service also not bad. At least when i sent in mabel’s one they gave me a good impression

Fujitsu LifeBook S6410U -$2203 w GST

Same specs as above.. I think it might look nicer and slimmer but I dunno, haven’t seen it in real life. 3 year warranty. There’s a fujitsu tablet, but its lower spec (1gb ram), smaller screen and well.. $2550. Actually, on second thought, the acer looks better.. but thats a matter of opinion.

Lenovo ThinkPad X61 - $2411 w GST

I think this is the smallest of the bunch. Best build quality (its IBM la!) drop it, wet it and slam it around probably won’t get damaged one. Of course.. it is.. just.. black and ugly as it is. And, it doesn’t have a CDrom drive(!!!)

ThinkPad T61 - $2310 w GST

This one is quite a proven model. Its black and i think it look exactly like ZG’s laptop. can have a look at it on sunday. Its slightly above 2.1kg though. Its 2.32kg. Same toughness like the one above applies

Toshiba

Forget them.. so expensive! the lowest specs too. Though I must say there’s no other screen like theirs. Very high resolution and nice to look at.

Macbook (not pro) - $2580 w GST

Comes with a 1gb ipod shuffle(1gb is super small in my opinion) They are cool and really stable. But knowing you i don’t think you’ll wanna spend time fiddling with the Mac OS. I must say, you’ll grow to love it alot if you do buy cos its really really good to use and stable. Everything mostly just works. No regular crashes and funny stuff happening. Also, you don’t play games so the mac is really quite good to use. Ask aunty joy, she has one. Specs don’t really matter on this one cos the mac usually runs on lesser hardware. It is a little expensive though, but at 2.31kg, they are decently light and they look very nice. Well, nicer than everything else above.

If i were you and choosing among these few, I’d go for the acer cos its cheap, got 3 year warranty (must ask) and the ram can upgrade for cheaper also ($59, also ask when buying).

Yep, so thats it.

Recording voice is totally different from piano. Its so painful. Sigh.. I will never never ever want to sing again, just been feeling that music is a very “extra” kinda thing, sometimes feels pointless and excessive.

After finding out my facebook garden (from yx) will die after 5 days.. I decided to immortalize it in all its digital glory!

Yay! the curvy Microsoft keyboard works! Some relief for my fingers.. wonder why an entire row of letters couldn’t work last time..

My left pinky hurts!  I think i have a RSI! Read some stories from other people.. think its really quite common! It only started happening after I used a normal keyboard again after passing my laptop to my bro.. I shall hunt for a better one tomorrow or maybe send the microsoft one in for repair. I never thought my body would start to experience problems like this. I think it’s kinda like a wakeup call. I mean, I’m only 23 for goodness sake! I shouldn’t be having this kinda problems!

Anyway, here’s the low down on whats going on

So I taped up my hand so the pinky can’t twist. Now it presses the CTRL button downwards, not sidewards. I shifted the tape abit down to the side of my hand, like where the green arrow is. It holds better. Any physio-therapist reading this? haha.. Help me!

I fully intended to give Sandra my leftover leukoplast tape from JC climbing days. See, its even in my sacred action area. haha.. Looks like its not going anywhere.

Well, I’m kinda done with this post. All therapists would tell you ice and rest would work.. and theres nothing really much they can do. I shall give photoshopping and keyboard shortcuts a real rest now. Oh man.. My body really seems to be quite funny now. Better take care of it more, like sleeping before 11. its now 2333.. off to bed I go!

Tomorrow will be the first FBI session for this sem. One half of me is like quite tired of it actually.. On a slightly related note, Ecclesiastes 5:1 caught my eye the other day because of something which I forgot. Anyway, the verse is still in my mind with regard to service and all. Which leads me to the next point - I think I signed up for too many things but I can’t cut anything out now because its too late

I’ve dropped choir, simply because I will be taking care of the sound that day and don’t want to be flustered after working out problems and sing up there after. I’m almost finishing piano recordings too.. the singing one is what bothers me. As for uncle buck’s site, I’ve almost finished it too.. I’m not happy with it I don’t know why. I have to get a new cable for the mics in church. Totally wasted 2hours in church because one cable spoilt and we had no extra last wednesday. Well well, I have to go rest! My foot still hurts, more constant than usual now. Shall go find doctor soon..

Oh man, my foot is killing me. What the articles say are totally true. When the foot is being used there is no pain. Once I rest and the foot tries to return to its normal shape and then I step on it again it hurts. It hurts in the morning when I step on it too. Its called Plantar Fasciitis. I hope i got it diagnosed correctly. Cos if its something else, its probably worse. Check out the flowchart for diagnosing foot problems.

I have a small dillema too. Which would you choose between? Footrot + Ingrown  toenail? or an aching sole of your foot everyday? Because I have to either wear sandals or shoes respectively. Haven’t seen any sandals with good arch support other than  Birks which are like.. rock hard AND expensive. Sigh.. So sian man. This is what I get after wearing sandals for a year because of foot rot. I even wore it in the states la! This is like so unfair. Oh well..
