Letters to Me
Heh, was going through a drawer full of letters, gifts and stuff and read some old letters. Letters to friends, not so friends anymore, forgotten people, christmas cards and birthday cards. I think I like to remember things from the past. Keeping these things allow me to revisit the person I was so many years ago to see how far I’ve come, as well as to see how much the same I still am.
Letter writing is a forgotten thing. Back in the day, there was no direct means of communication with an individual you were interested in.. When I was interested in someone (haha.. I don’t even know where to start), calling up her house meant her mom or someone else might pick up or it was engaged or nobody was home. It was enjoyable to write because you would have a physical thing you could look at and enjoy. Also, you could re-read and look at it again when you wanted to. Oh well.. wonder if these things should change as time moves on, or are they things we should retain? heh… Anyway, I read things from so many people. Mainly those from sec sch. I have only thrown away my lower sec letters as they are something I don’t want or bother to remember. As for my upper sec, it was something different. I enjoyed my friends alot and until now we’re still in touch probably because they were christian and like sisters to me.
Anyhow, writing letters also enforced a slow moderated amount of communiation. Instead of torrents of messages through the day to each other, couples and friends led their own lives and did not spend too much time with each other. This allowed development of their own lives to move on at a healthy pace. Rushing into a relationship can be very damaging and unrealistic. Think of it as slowly unwrapping a gift or watching a TV show.. things need to be done in the correct way or else you’d just spoil it for yourself.
I shall take a picture of all my letters soon to see how much I have… haha.. I remember most of them were to bern and sy. Alot of christmas cards from church ppl.. Oh well. I’m out of time! Going to sleep.
