What do you have in your hand?

Exodus 4:1-5 (New King James Version)

1 Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
2 So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
He said, “A rod.”
3 And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), 5 “that they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

Well, this friday night’s message spoke to me quite abit. It had only one point! It answers a question which I always seem to be hitting again which is where and what I should be doing. Well, it kinda doesn’t matter what you’re doing but whether you’re faithful in doing it. There’s no need to wait till you’re all prepared and have everything you’ll possibly need, God wants whats in your hand right now no matter how small it is. Sometimes I feel like I learn fast but I cannot bring any skill, be it music, web design or the PA, beyond a certain level. I think I’ll just remember to be more focused and faithful from now on.

The End (of me)

Well, I have finally meandered through this sememster’s treacherous exams safely. Its going to be terrible, nevertheless I have made it through without going nuts. Having exactly 3 weeks before I go off to the US, I’d like to do 3 things.

  1. Finish a Book
  2. Finish a Model
  3. Finishing Pimpin up this site fully

This doesn’t seem so ambitious but time has a way of slipping by you without you knowing. Before I know it it’ll be January - bidding for modules, registering for tutorials. Whole cycle begins itself again. Life of study in Singapore is really quite hectic. Feels like a train rolling down a hill, stopping at the bottom but not before it smashes your social life, recreational time and other things.

Colossians 3:22-24 (New King James Version)

22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ.

Yup.. So I’ll be pushing through another 5 more semesters with God’s grace. No more lazing about like this sem. I can’t afford to get such lousy grades anymore!

Site is fixed up to a readable level. Single post and archive templates are properly done up. Going to tune up the tags and such to work too in the near future. Whee…

Second Life: Your World. Your Imagination.

My goodness, there is a neopets-like thing around since 2003 which is essentially a 2nd life online. You actually pay REAL money to get a house there, trade and stuff. Recently, a person has already become a millionaire by trading online and Australia has decided to tax income from such streams including World-Of-Weirdos. How crazy is that? This concept is so ahead of its time, especially after neopets. I remember I played it quite abit because I was so intrigued by the economic system established which seems to self run like an organism with users as the cells. Demand and supply and cost all moved with the users. Interesting. Anyway out of interest I went to have a look at my account.. lo and behold, below it is!

Lightbox 2

Lightbox 2 is up and running! My wordpress theme was not including the necessary javascript to run it properly. I think my page is super-humongo-gigantic now. Anyway, this plugin makes the picture expand over the page so I don’t really need to worry about having tiny pictures in the narrow column.

Test it out!

1/3 Marathon

Well, I managed to finish 15km before my will gave way. Actually it was more like my head was feeling woozy from not eating enough and the crazy bobbing up and down of running. My knees hurt like crazy and my muscles ache a little. I’m going to train for next year! Complete it too I guess.

I ran with Ying Chiang and William, it was crazy. The first 10km was cake, from that point to 15k I felt like sleeping, eyelids very heavy and slightly giddy from the constant impact of running. I felt like my brain was being jarred out of place. After the 1st leg (15km out and back) I had to stop because the next leg was the rest of the distance (15-42km) and I really don’t think I would have completed it at all. Somehow I felt abit loser for dropping out, especially when you’re the one who ask other ppl to join. After that I didn’t feel so bad already because on second thought I managed to run 15k without any training at all. The last time I ran such a distance was in early 2004. About 3 years and 10kg ago. haha.. I must say however, I have 2 friends (Liam an YC) who are as tough as nails and managed to finish it! I think its an incredible feat.

Also as a side-note, I was thinking about how my priorities were being misplaced and how I wasn’t in church on a Sunday morning. I did think about it the last few weeks but I pushed it aside thinking if other people were doing it why couldn’t I? Well, not so good logic there. Pastors sermon today about Caleb and how his faithfulness was rewarded a good 45 years later, even when he was not strictly speaking from the tribe of Israel prodded my very tired mind a little.

I think small faithfulness can be rewarded in big ways.. even after 40 years of suffering for a decision others made for you. I also thought about how weak my will was compared to what I believe it to be probably shows why in other areas of my life I am not able to hold to a commitment or discipline myself to do something with un-wavering faithfulness. Is that a personality trait? or is it character? I think its the latter and that I’m quite lacking in that sense.

Well, I shall act on my musings and go study for the last leg of my exams, the EE2006 paper. I shall come here and slowly build up the site to what I want it to be.. Priorities priorities..

after alot of thinking, I guess there’s really no sacrfice too big and no action too small that we can take for Christ. Easy to say, hard to implement. I think It’s really the small sacrifices that we really have difficulty with since these pleasures seem so unimportant and benign and “wouldn’t affect our walk”. Quite the annoyance it (compromise) is.

Over-overhaul

Well, I finally made it look like how I want to make it look. I still have to finish making the single pages, archives, search, tags and basically everything else work properly. Not to mention lightbox as well since this place is so crammed with no space for larger photos. I’ve given up on gallery2, Think I don’t need such power. Just the trusty wordpress installation and upload thingy. Just too bad it doesn’t do mass uploads or upload with zip files and such. That would be perfect.
